DESCRIPTION
'Next Steps' Black American Walnut has an overall appearance is of a character floor. The ‘Black American Walnut’ has all the natural characteristics of the Walnut tree, with a more uniform grain, than an Oak. There is also a chance of natural swirls in the grain which will make the floor look unique, making it look like a ‘real’ solid wooden floor. The ‘Black’ colour of the wood can bring class and warmth to any room, from a boutique style dining room, to a cosy bedroom. The Black American Walnut packs, contains random length boards which enables a realistic wooden floor finish. The dark brown stain finish to the board supplies a real quality to the floor.
ATHENA FITTING ADVISE
We have fitted this flooring in both the methods shown below
INSTALLATION; Glued as a floating floor or nailed. Suitable for underfloor heating if based on an embeded (screed) system must be fully bonded with a flexi wood adhesive.
- Secretly nailed to both joists and over existing floorboard (secret nailing is where you hammer a nail just above the tongue at an angle of approx. 45*, punch the nail head just under the surface using a nail punch and when the next boards groove is laid and knocked over the tongue it covers and hides the nail heads)
- Glued the planks directly to the prepared subfloor.
- Floating it on an underlay over both timber and concrete subfloors (floating means that you do not fix the boards directly to the subfloor. You would either 'lock' the joints together or apply a bead of wood glue to the top side of the groove to every board so as you knock it into position any excess glue will run into the groove and not ooze out all over the face of the finished floor)
